Behind the suit, the accounts

Smoking Inu, Standard Beans, Standard Cat, IGNITION and saluteface: characters meet evidence.

A suited cat displays a treasury. Beans announce their next bake. A launchpad wants to distinguish authors from copies. Characters give mechanisms a shape; this week, interfaces also show how far they have progressed.

The smoking Inu thread traces a Vlad Tenev quip into competing contracts. New subjects then shift the question: who receives fees, which rewards are already available and which rules are still announcements?

At saluteface, a short reply leads to a repository explaining its limitations at length. That contrast deserves attention. The story becomes more interesting when files and exchanges clarify what the image alone cannot say.

02 / SMOKING-INU / WEEKLY STORY

Smoking Inu: one cigarette, two letters and competing camps

A Vlad Tenev joke becomes a shiba at a bank of AI screens. On Robinhood, traders are already contesting the meaning and legacy of SI. Story published on 12/10, reproduced here in its launch context.

At 05:12, a cigarette enters the feed

On October 12 at 05:12 Paris time, Vlad Tenev posts on X that he is hearing about more AI researchers taking up smoking. He connects the anecdote with the supposed approach of superintelligence. There is no contract address or launch announcement in his message. For the traders reading it, however, it already offers an image: a cigarette in the middle of the artificial-intelligence race. [1]

In the smoking Inu banner, that image has acquired a character. A shiba sits before blue screens displaying digital brains. It holds a cigarette, with books about AI research and superintelligence stacked nearby. Tenev’s post occupies a large panel in the centre of the scene. The artwork distributed through the token listing makes the connection between the joke and the dog explicit. It is promotional illustration, not a photograph of a laboratory. [3]

The author matters as much as the words. Tenev is Robinhood’s co-founder and chief executive, as well as Harmonic’s co-founder and executive chairman. Harmonic is an AI company. Those overlapping roles give traders on Robinhood chain an immediately usable connection. They do not turn that use into an endorsement of the token: the original post does not mention smoking Inu. [1] [2]

The joke has already left its author’s hands

Beneath the post, Tyler Palmer compares San Francisco cigarette sales to an indicator of AGI activity, drawing an analogy with pizza orders associated with the Pentagon. Ash answers with a pun turning artificial-intelligence researchers into “Artificial Inu”. Neither response establishes a trend inside laboratories. They show readers reshaping the sentence: a purported habit becomes an indicator, then a meme name. [4] [5]

At 05:38, 黎明同学 quotes Tenev’s post and publishes the smoking Inu address. Tols makes the same connection at 05:40. Readers now have more than a funny image: they have a contract to pass around. The principal pair listed by DEX Screener is dated 05:15:28, shortly after the initial message. That proximity and those quote-posts document the topic’s rapid adoption; they do not identify the token’s creator or the purchases behind its rising valuation. [3] [6] [7]

Thewolfofpumpfun then supplies an explanation of his own: he says researchers are smoking because they think AI will soon solve cancer. He combines the story, the ticker and Vlad’s post into a trading argument, alongside the exact contract. That medical explanation does not appear in Tenev’s message and is not established by the thread reviewed. It is the trader’s addition to the narrative, showing how quickly a short sentence acquires a more elaborate story. [1] [8]

A smoking dog, and a position to claim

At 06:00, GEM DETECTER says he has taken a gamble on smoking Inu. He describes a Pons launch and a token built around Tenev’s post. His argument goes beyond the dog: he invokes a precedent involving the AI ticker on Robinhood and the idea that runners are rare on Pons. Jimmy Ashcot replies that he has heard that last claim several times already. It is a perception circulating among participants, not an established platform statistic. [9] [10]

After the peak reported to the newsroom, GEM DETECTER returns at 07:11 to the shift from AI to SI terminology. He connects it with Trump and suggests traders will adapt. The thread shows an attempt to attach smoking Inu to an existing ticker story; it does not establish his claims about earlier valuations or an official decision to rename AI. [11]

The shift is revealing: the cigarette provides visual novelty, while the letters SI evoke superintelligence. Smoking Inu can therefore be presented as another dog or as a fresh incarnation of an established conversation. In one reply, Block Ventis chooses the first reading and appeals to the potential of Inu narratives. That is his enthusiasm, not a market rule. [14]

Two letters do not identify one community

Competition emerges early. At 05:59, Moo quotes the same Tenev sentence but supplies two addresses: a token named superintelligence and the smoking Inu contract covered here. One message can fuel several assets. Finding Vlad’s quote or the SI ticker is therefore insufficient to identify the token an account is promoting. [12]

At 08:11, Trip Trippman replies in GEM DETECTER’s thread that another SI already exists on Robinhood, pointing to @SI_ShibaInu. He criticises the multiplication of tokens for encouraging traders to compete against each other. His wallet claims are not verified here, but his response documents disagreement over the space available for another SI. This exchange comes after the reported ATH and cannot explain that peak. [13]

Smoking Inu’s distinctive feature lies in that gap. Tenev supplies an open-ended sentence; early relays give it an address; others immediately try to attach it to a legacy or defend a competitor. The shiba at its screens makes the whole story easy to recognise, but the conversation is more specific than the image: people are choosing what the same words should mean, and which contract to circulate.

03 / BEANS / WEEKLY STORY

Standard Beans: the bank puts its beans in the oven

Copper beans parade like a state institution. Then the account says fees will buy and burn them: the joke meets a flow readers can follow.

An extremely serious institution

They wear boots and march between monumental columns. On standardbeans.xyz, beans have a procession, flags and central-bank language. The site itself jokes that their backing consists of conviction and a very long parade. Its contract sits beside the scene: solemnity is a meme accessory, not a banking guarantee. [16]

Sections on policy and “beanomics” extend the game. The project presents itself as a Standard Reserve memecoin and offers a pair with the BABA stock token. It also explains how trades contribute to a competition. The vocabulary builds a small imaginary bureaucracy around real market actions. These rules remain the site’s stated rules. [16]

The great bake begins

On 16 October, the account announces a change in creator-fee use: 100% will supposedly fund BEANS purchases and burns. It calls the policy “The great bean bake”. The next day it says a first buyback acquired 11.7 million tokens and supplies a transaction link. The second post says they were acquired to be baked; that should not be compressed into a burn independently verified by our editorial team. [17] [18]

The distinction does not weaken the narrative device. Buybacks and burns, often described mechanically, become a baking process the bean army can watch. The account promises a site tool to track it. The community gains something to monitor as well as an image to share. [17]

In a reply, sincancuan imagines an NFT with a burn mechanism. That suggestion is not a project-announced feature. It shows a participant extending the metaphor with a possible next chapter. [19]

The parade now has a receipt

Between the site’s presentation and the posts of 16–17 October, the promise changes character. The parade could stand alone as a joke. Assigning fees introduces an operation readers can investigate: funds received, tokens purchased and final destination.

Our reading is that this precision can enrich the meme, provided the oven image does not replace evidence. A transaction link is a starting point, not automatic validation of every step. BEANS’ next story will lie in whether its narrated bake matches publicly traceable movements.

04 / SCAT / WEEKLY STORY

Standard Cat: the cat opens its books

Suit, tie and round glasses: behind the business-cat image, the site separates an exposed treasury from rewards still pending.

A cat at the window

The site opens with a ginger cat in a suit, sitting in a car in front of tall towers. It does not hold a price placard: it adopts the imagery of an executive on the move. Further down, visitors find a treasury dashboard, positions and transaction links. The image promises order; the page tries to make that order inspectable. [22]

The stated mechanism allocates 80% of creator fees to STANDARD purchases and the remaining 20% to the team. The project plans to place tokens in S-Bills, preserve principal and use yield for holders and creators. That is Standard Cat’s announced mechanism, not a return we measured for each holder. [22]

The dashboard’s most useful line

On 18 October, the page states that STANDARD staking is live but rewards are pending. That sentence prevents an accumulated treasury being treated as income already distributed. Displayed positions and transaction links provide checks; they do not make every future step a completed one. [22] [24]

The site also presents a creative competition as a preview. It says rules will be published before entries open and describes initial funding linked to SPCX. Product state matters again: a preview with a displayed pot is neither a completed competition nor confirmed payments to participants. [22]

These distinctions give the character a particular activity. The cat asks for more than visual reproduction; it sets out a plan to fund creative work. If realised, the treasury could help renew its cultural material. For now, the interface mainly shows how the project intends to organise that transition.

The suit commits to legibility

The business-cat metaphor works because it gives a face to operations that are difficult to picture. Buying, staking, awaiting yield and distributing it become the character’s job. Yet each verb describes a separate stage; placing them consecutively on a webpage does not prove completion.

Our reading is that Standard Cat will become especially legible when rewards move beyond pending status. Announced movements can then be compared with recipients and funded creations. The suit and towers already set the scene. The dashboard shows which part of the story remains unwritten.

05 / IGNITION / WEEKLY STORY

IGNITION: choosing the rules before launch

The platform introduces launch rules and protection against copies. Identity becomes a product issue inside software still evolving.

A list that resembles a game menu

On 18 October, IGNITION announces launch-time rules: anti-bundle protection, a sandwich tax, maximum buys and market hours, alongside “The Grudge”, “King of the Hill” and “Diamond hands”. The post says chosen rules cannot be changed and none can prevent a sale. That is the project’s commitment; we have not audited these functions. [27]

The names mix market constraints with gaming language. They make technical configuration imaginable for somebody launching a character or community. In a reply, Rudy Lentze looks forward to good launches and committed holders. The expectation shows what rules are meant to provide for a user: an environment in which a story has time to develop. [32]

First does not always mean original

The account also announces X-verification-based protection against copies. Its stated aim is to recognise an author even when a copy launches first. This addresses a concrete trenches problem: several contracts can share a name, and technical priority alone does not resolve identity. [28]

The feature moves some of that adjudication from discussions into the launchpad interface. It invites scrutiny of verification criteria, how flags can be challenged and what happens to holders. The announcement does not prove every dispute will be resolved correctly. It does show copies being treated as a product problem.

Fixed promises inside changing software

The documentation describes an evolving architecture: parts of a hook can be upgraded. It distinguishes versions and says new launches must use approved implementations. The same page says no external audit has yet taken place. The advertised permanence of a particular rule must therefore be separated from the system’s upgrade authority. [30]

Another announcement on 18 October presents Proof-of-Swap as forthcoming, with mining linked to swaps. That future should not be presented as a capability already available to readers. The account itself marks the difference in timing. [29]

IGNITION’s story is a workshop changing while open. Rules and creator recognition may provide tools for communities; their meaning depends on the version actually used. Following this token therefore requires attention to release notes as well as launch imagery.

06 / SALUTEFACE / WEEKLY STORY

saluteface: the limits are the interesting part

A reply by Clément Delangue circulates around an allegedly autonomous agent. The public repository tells a more precise story: a small reproducibility exercise inviting scrutiny.

The question he answers

On 13 October, Benjelloun addresses Clément Delangue on X. He argues that Hugging Face should label datasets or contributions uploaded by an agent. Delangue agrees and mentions Victor Mustar. His response concerns that transparency proposal; it mentions neither the saluteface contract nor financial support for the token. [35] [36]

The conversation quotes Orbofi, which presents saluteface as an agent capable of creating its account and autonomously publishing a protein-watermarking dataset. That autonomy narrative is Orbofi’s. A public repository alone does not independently reconstruct every action attributed to the agent. [38]

Ten rows, not an announced revolution

The SalutefaceAAC repository consulted on 18 October is unusually explicit about scope. It contains ten sequences, verification material and calibration around a public scoring algorithm. It states that it is not affiliated with Google DeepMind, has not been peer reviewed and is not an accepted contribution to the upstream project. [37]

The essential passage says public-key scores cannot detect the secret watermark. The repository therefore does not claim to demonstrate watermark evasion. It also says no biological property was measured. These limits are useful: they describe what this small collection can verify and what remains beyond its reach. [37]

The journalistic subject is not turning the repository into a scientific breakthrough. It is watching an agent narrative meet a form of public work: files, declared tests and claims others can discuss. The repository offers a starting point for that discussion, not a verdict on every agent’s scientific ability.

A short reply becomes a large sign

The link to Delangue’s reply appears in the token’s metadata. A reader can consequently move from a tradable asset to a conversation about labelling contributions. A link connects them; it does not create an official relationship.

The story illustrates why the question must be read before the answer. Agreement about transparency can become attention to a character and then a market argument. Returning to the thread and repository reveals firmer material: how to recognise an agent’s work, make it inspectable and avoid attributing more than it published.
