RUNNERS / SOLANA$COPCAT, the hard-hat cat returns for its copper
A meme dating back to January, a new Stonkfun contract and a pool paired with COPX: Copper Cat turns its return into a second-chance story. On Solana, its reported ATH reaches $5.01M on September 21 at 23:45 Paris time.

At 22:38, the cat returns to the building site
On September 21 at 22:38 Paris time, @coppercatcoin announces its arrival on Stonkfun and posts a complete Solana address. This is no institutional launch announcement: the character is still stealing things and wants to make money from copper. Readers recognise an old acquaintance in the replies. One says the original cat came to mind immediately after buying; another remembers a favourite meme whose previous version ended badly. [1]
By 23:45, the peak reported to Trenches On reaches $5.01 million in market capitalisation. One hour and seven minutes separate the account’s announcement from that reference point. This comparison situates the acceleration; it does not establish the token’s creation time. COPCAT returns with something many new arrivals still need to build: a memory, a collection of images and participants who can explain what happened before.
January in its luggage, a new team at the controls
Fifteen minutes before that announcement, Doc, @ponzibaron, clarifies his role. In a post published at 22:23, he says he launched an earlier COPCAT with @eyecookmemes, but explicitly states that he neither launched the new version nor belongs to its new team. He places the original episode during enthusiasm for copper and claims it preceded Copper Inu. That detailed chronology remains his account of events. [2]
A more concrete trace accompanies the return: Doc recirculates his own January 29 post about a “copcat supercycle”. Coppercat itself quotes a February 6 publication in its September 21 announcement. The character therefore has a public history predating this address. Rediscovering a mascot and its archives, however, does not establish technical continuity between two tokens. [1] [3]
The account later adds another piece by quoting Doc’s statement that the old X profile and DEX listing have been redirected towards the new COPCAT on Stonkfun. The new asset thus inherits a meeting place and a library of material. The sources reviewed do not establish with certainty who controls the new team. [9]
A hard hat, copper wire and workplace humour
The token’s artwork needs little explanation. An orange cat wears an orange hard hat; a coil of copper fills the foreground, with pipes and industrial structures behind it. “Hat stays on” completes the scene. The helmet becomes a recognisable emblem, while copper supplies the colour, the name and the joke about a character stealing from building sites. [5]
Doc also says he made contact with the person behind an Instagram account featuring cats in hard hats. The CatsWithHardHats profile consulted during this research displays approximately 423,000 followers and 4,883 posts. Its description invites people to come for the memes and stay for the comments; visible posts draw on manual trades, bosses, fuel costs and everyday frustrations at work. This provides a sense of the cultural territory COPCAT inhabits. [2] [4]
That audience belongs to the Instagram account, not to the token. The profile observed does not display the COPCAT contract, and the relationship described by Doc does not establish a current partnership. The editorial interest lies elsewhere: a cat wearing a hard hat speaks a visual language already familiar outside crypto. It can carry a workplace joke before it carries a market thesis.
COPX brings copper into the trading pair
The relaunch adds a market connection to the story. The DEX Screener listing for this contract shows a Raydium pool in which COPCAT trades against COPX, identified as “Global X Copper Miners ETF - Backpack Securities”. This is more than a cat standing in front of cables: the name of the other asset in the pair also refers to copper. Other pools for the same COPCAT use wrapped SOL, showing that several markets can coexist. [5]
The traditional COPX fund, as described by Global X, holds a basket of copper mining companies. It is not a warehouse of metal. Nor does holding COPCAT mean owning fund shares or automatically receiving the rights attached to a tokenised security. The pool documents a trading pair; it does not establish a value guarantee for the memecoin. [5] [6]
Even so, the choice gives supporters a readily shareable argument. Copper is no longer just a comic prop: it enters the vocabulary of tokenised financial assets. Our reading is that this consistency between image, name and trading counterpart helps distinguish COPCAT from a purely nostalgic return.
Supporters offer several reasons to pay attention
Gengar the Ghost, @Gengaremon, shares the exact contract and suggests COPCAT could follow a path comparable to ZCAT. He also quotes Doc’s explanation. The post combines two appeals: comparison with another token and a second chance for an established meme. That comparison is a participant’s projection, not an assured outcome. [7]
CITADEL WOLF builds a different bridge: artificial intelligence and robotics would need copper, and COPCAT could become a character associated with commodities. His sharing link contains the same contract. The argument moves from an industrial requirement to a speculative mascot; the two are not interchangeable. It mainly shows traders trying to expand the story beyond cats and helmets. [8]
Coppercat also cultivates recognition through slogans. The account quotes an old Ansem post from September 29, 2024, to reuse “hat stays on”. The date matters: quoting that old publication does not constitute Ansem’s endorsement of the new COPCAT. It is the cat’s account making the connection and repurposing a phrase from memecoin culture. [10]
After the peak, memory becomes a point of debate
The comeback does not produce a unanimous story. Doc subsequently describes a night of revival followed by criticism, while arguing that the cat deserves a place in the copper conversation. His account carries the memory of an earlier attempt and a wish to see the character do better. We do not treat the personal accusations accompanying some of these exchanges as established facts. [12]
In a later post quoted by Coppercat, CryptoPablo invokes @pointfarmcap’s positions and presence to defend the token, then discussed around an $800,000 valuation. This is a promotional argument built on a participant’s reputation; the wallets and their size have not been verified here. The shift is telling: after the cat’s history and the copper narrative, the conversation seeks another reason to hold in the names of people supposedly supporting it. [11]
$5.01 million: the peak of a comeback
The reference point retained is the ATH supplied to the editorial team: $5.01 million in market capitalisation on September 21, 2026, at 23:45 Paris time. It has not been independently verified to the minute and is not the current valuation. This article concerns only the Solana contract displayed here, rather than every version that has used the Copper Cat name.
The distinctive feature is the combination: an old character, a repurposed account, a new team and a trading pair extending the copper joke. COPCAT could return without starting from nothing. What follows will show whether its participants can produce new scenes and conversations beyond January’s memories and the promise of a second chance.
